About Sarah
Sarah Knapp is a passionate facilitator, community organizer, and musician who weaves together healing practices, creative expression, and a deep respect for nature in her work. As the founder of Singing From My Body, Singing From My Soul, an 8-week online program, Sarah blends singing, songwriting, and somatic practices to support participants in cultivating emotional expression, creativity, and nervous system healing. Through her unique approach, she empowers individuals to reconnect with their bodies, voices, and emotions, fostering a deeper sense of self-awareness and resilience.
Sarah’s musical endeavors also extend to her role as co-founder and choir director of the Raising Voices Children’s Choir at Little Shepherd’s Nature School in San Diego. Here, she integrates nature-based themes and environmental stewardship into the choir’s curriculum, organizing community events such as seasonal concerts and outdoor performances to engage families in both music and environmental advocacy.
In addition to her music-related work, Sarah is a seasoned community organizer, co-facilitating seasonal Celtic Wheel of the Year gatherings on an indigenous-owned farm in San Diego. These gatherings honor ancestral practices and the cycles of nature, promoting a sense of interconnectedness and reverence for the land.
With a rich background in trauma-informed care and grief support, Sarah has also created transformative spaces for individuals navigating difficult life transitions. She founded the San Diego Death Cafe & Grief Circle, a compassionate community space where participants can explore topics around death and grieving. As a yoga teacher, she developed a Yoga for Grief class, providing a supportive environment for individuals moving through loss, and she’s shared her expertise in trauma and grief with aspiring yoga teachers at Reunify Yoga.
Sarah's passion for creating inclusive, accessible spaces shines through in her diverse community projects. She has hosted Full Moon Feasts, a series of sliding-scale farm-to-table dinners, offering a communal space for sharing cultural practices and connecting over food. Additionally, she founded an intergenerational daycare service, fostering community connections by providing care for both children and seniors.
Her deep commitment to supporting others during profound transitions extends beyond community care. As a certified death doula, Sarah has provided end-of-life support, guiding families through the practical and emotional aspects of the dying process and creating personalized rituals that honor spiritual and cultural beliefs. She also offers support for home funerals, bringing sacredness to the final rites of passage.
Sarah’s wide-ranging training reflects her commitment to lifelong learning. She has completed her 3-year Somatic Experiencing Practitioner training and is a registered SEP, with a focus on trauma healing through body-centered approaches. Additionally, she has undertaken various apprenticeships and certifications, including studies in biodynamic farming, somatic attachment therapy, and indigenous wisdom traditions. Her work is further enriched by her participation in the Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers and the Orphan Wisdom School. Sarah has also co-founded the Resistance Revival Chorus in San Diego, a community-driven choir that uses music as a form of activism and support for social justice causes.
With a heart dedicated to healing, creative expression, and community, Sarah continues to inspire and support individuals through her unique combination of music, somatic practices, and emotional healing through songwriting. Whether guiding voices through Singing From My Body, Singing From My Soul, or nurturing the collective spirit through her many community-based initiatives, Sarah invites you to join her in creating spaces of connection, empowerment, and transformation.
